Right now, we are seeking a Counsel.
The primary responsibilities of this role will include advising on local regulatory requirements relating to payments, foreign exchange and derivatives (forwards and options), counseling stakeholders on risks associated with strategic initiatives in the region, researching and monitoring laws in coordination with local counsel, supporting regulatory initiatives, and providing general legal support with respect to corporate commercial matters.
Other Key Responsibilities:
•Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements with Western Union Business Solutions partners, customers and vendors in coordination with responsible business leaders
•Advising and supporting the Compliance department with respect to anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regulations in the region, as well as internal Compliance policies and procedures
•Working closely with Litigation, Employment, IP and other shared functions within the General Counsel's Office of The Western Union Company
Qualifications:
•Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited American school of law (preferably with honors), or equivalent degree from an accredited school of law in another country
•6-9+ years of experience in an international law firm or legal department of a multi-national corporation (preferably engaged in the provision of financial services), with emphasis on payments, foreign exchange and derivatives
•Experience in dealing directly with business clients at all levels, both inside and outside of the organization, but in particular in counseling senior business clients
