Job Summary:

Burris Company, Inc., a Greeley, CO based manufacturer and distributor of premium sporting, law-enforcement and military optics under the Burris and Steiner brand names, is looking for an ElectroOptic Engineer who is passionate about innovative technology. This person would be responsible for the development of a competitively designed line of premium optic products. The ElectroOptic Engineer will provide a range of engineering services for the formulation, design, development, integration, testing, and verification of electronic circuitry and optical components for riflescopes and binoculars. This person will use their talent and creativity to blend the desires of our customers with our strategic business goals. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

•Perform microdisplay/electronics and sensor integration evaluation and characterization.
•Identify suitable technologies for current/future projects.
•Identify and develop IP in support of the company’s business goals
•Participate and occasionally lead design reviews; develop and track schedules, manage issues and resolutions, and work with global suppliers and manufacturing locations.
•Design and develop electronic circuitry and optical components for riflescope and binocular applications.
•Develop design, performance and process/assembly specifications and purchase agreements.
•Solve design, process and assembly issues; create problem-solution options; deft in quantifying, communicating and managing risk.
•Apply excellent project management skills; manage, organize, prioritize, and execute assignments for multiple projects on time.
•Design close tolerances, precision metal parts and assemblies using GD&T. Must have working knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and processes and be able to use all common measuring tools.
•Lead and manage teams by establishing goals, seeking buy-in and commitment and inspiring an innovative, creative and collaborative work environment.
•Maintain supportive, professional relationships; interact effectively and efficiently as part of a multi-member, multi-functional team.
•Travel internationally and meet with foreign vendors; discuss and collaborate on engineering options, decisions, and designs; develop an outcome that meets company needs and expectations.


Education and Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering PLUS three years of applicable work experience. Preference for specialization is ElectroOptics. Mechanical, Electrical, Optics, or Physics. Programming skills are a plus.
•Proven record of electronics design work.
•Demonstrated experience specifying, designing, testing, and qualifying electro-optical, optical modules and components for use in high reliability optical and electro-optical systems.
•Firmware/software integration.
•Experience in visual optics, LEDs, OLEDs, lasers, camera sensors, and associated drivers and electronics; designing for low power consumption, tight packaging requirements, and systems integration of software and hardware.
•Must be Zemax and Solidworks design capable.
•Competent using Microsoft Office applications including MS project, Power point, Word, & Excel.
