Job Responsibilities
Seeking a Mid-Level Optical Systems Engineer to provide architecture development / analysis /systems engineering support across the Government Customer’s GEOINT enterprise. This position reports to a TASC team lead and the duties will require interface with the Government Customer
Responsibilities include:
o Provide electro-optical architecture development and analysis support
o Assess existing or proposed electro-optical systems / architectures for collection performance (e.g., image quality, area collection, point collection, minimum collection graze angle, etc.)
o Assess existing or proposed electro-optical systems / architecture for capability to collect literal and non-literal imagery products
o Provide electro-optical systems engineering, integration and analysis services
o Identify technology needs and provide technology / system maturity roadmaps for electro-optical systems development
o Perform requirements analysis and development to resolve critical customer needs and shortfalls
· Support technical meetings, design reviews, and systems development
· Review, analyze and critique contractor-proposed system, sub-system and component level designs for optical payloads
· Review proposed designs to verify successful accomplish technical and operational requirements
· Work with government/contractor teams to find and provide solutions to design and operations problems
Areas of technical interest include:
· Electro-optical systems
· Optical systems engineering
· Remote sensing
· Image processing
Modeling & simulation
Qualifications
Bachelors in science, physics, astronomy, astro-physics, aerospace, or engineering is required. Masters/Doctorate in Engineering, Physics, or Optical Systems is highly desired. Experience in optical system design and fabrication is a significant plus. 7 or more years electro-optical satellite experience is preferred. Experience with the Intelligence Community and/or our Customer organization a plus.
Analytical tool expertise (e.g., MatLab, Satellite Tool Kit, ENVI, Zemax, MODTRAN, DIRSIG) is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent oral and written communications skills, and good organizational abilities are essential. Ability to perform on multi-functional, cross-organizational teams is required.
The successful candidate for this position will have the ability to work with senior scientists and engineers, mentor junior level engineers, be creative and resourceful, and be willing to take the initiative in exploring new solutions to the toughest remote sensing problems facing our national security.
Required Skills
Active TS/SCI clearance
•Good knowledge of orbital dynamics
•Programming skills (C/C++, MATLAB, etc.)
Experience in either image processing with emphasis on satellite systems or remote sensing image processing systems is highly desired.
