Job Description | ACS seeks to hire a Lead Mechanical Engineer who is highly knowledgeable and experienced in Industrial HVAC and Mechanical Systems design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The individual will work with engineers of varied disciplines to fulfill the facilities mechanical engineering responsibilities for a variety of laboratory, process, and industrial projects. Note: This position will be located at our office in Greenville, South Carolina. The position will require training in our corporate office in Madison, Wisconsin for six months to one year. ACS will provide lodging and traveling.
Basic requirements include:
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
•Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC design.
•LEED Certification or willingness to get certified.
•Knowledge of chilled, tower, process, and hot water systems; steam, gas, refrigeration, compressed air, fuel, comfort, and process air side systems.
•Experience with fire suppression and plumbing systems.
•Excellent communication and technical writing skills required.
•Ability to prioritize multiple tasks as well as a proven record of excellent client service.
•Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.
•Ability to work well in project team environment, including: team player, takes initiative to improve personal and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with all internal and external levels and groups.
•Ability to travel to customer facilities for design meetings, equipment installation supervision, and commissioning.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Planning and Design Phases
•Scope definition and concept design for mechanical facilities and fabricated equipment fluid systems.
•Develop proposals, cost estimates, and schedules for mechanical systems and commissioning.
•Perform constructability review - installation, phasing, space, utility requirements.
•Perform quality review - design criteria, maintenance, balance/control, diversity/capacity.
•Coordinate multiple engineering disciplines.
Procurement and Construction Phases
•Prequalify, solicit, analyze, and report on equipment quotations, contractor bids, proposals, and technical submissions.
•Create scopes of work, contracts, and purchase orders.
•Periodic visits to the jobsite, including stays for up to two weeks at a time to oversee field contractor activities to ensure quality and schedule and for troubleshooting.
•Schedule and manage vendors and sub-contractors, including submittal review process and deliveries.
•Generate RFI responses and coordinate work between trades. |
