Job Description | Inergy Automotive Systems (USA), LLC, a Tier-1 internat'l auto supplier in Troy MI, seeks Process Design Eng'r to realize mono- & multi-layer blow molded fuel tanks fr raw materials. Posit'n req significant travel to 5 mfg regional plant locat'ns, w/ nat'l & internat'l travel a min of 50% of time (primary work locat'n is Troy, MI; travel to Adrian, MI, Milan, MI, Huron Charter Twp, MI, & Anderson, SC). Responsibilities are in an auto mfg environm't & also req wkend work in product'n plant when mfg equip is idle. Duties: product design review for ease of mfg for plastic blow molded fuel tanks; work w/ & develop CAD simulat'n models of design w/ advanced BLOWVIEW model'g tools; work w/ program developm't to determine product feasibility & fine-tune product design; coordinate & support process activities dur'g plant launch; perform prelim trial prep plann'g & resource mgmt., inc tool spec, release & follow-up; develop blow pin filler necks processes; continuous prep w/ plants to receive & execute product'n trials; work w/ Quality on data collect'n, analysis, evaluat'n & adjustm't of process to improve capability of plastic fuel tank design to validate process thru critical parameters; provide expertise in the area of blow mold'g processes & develop'g train'g modules; oversee tool product'n & perform on-site modificat'n to molds, cool'g molds & cool'g nests to conform to safety-critical fuel tank product'n; audit blow mold'g co-extrusion equip & partial wall thickness distribut'n (PWDS) control head tool'g sys (free-state & cool'g shell process) spec & performance; use parison mark'g tech to define & tune blow mold'g process to establish process that is reliable, robust & capable; extensive plant on-site process tun'g of blow mold'g machinery to develop acceptable product that meets customer & regulatory safety critical guidelines; conduct 6-layer co-extrus'n blow mold machine maintenance & troubleshoot'g; reg consultat'n w/ plants on product changes of current design/changes for feasibility dur'g product'n; develop Knowledge Mgmt doc for equip & processes related to blow mold'g & prepare set-up books & operator work instruct'ns; & support mfg location w/ train'g, root cause problem solv'g analysis & addn'l tech support, to inc extended wdays/work wks dur'g trials & production ramp-up, as need. Min Edu Req: Bach in Industrial, Electronics, or Mechanical Eng'g or a related Eng'g field. Min Exp Req: 5 yrs exp in Process Eng'g related posit'n w/in a Tier-1 auto plastic fuel sys supplier. Special Exp: Must have 5 full yrs of plant on-site, hands-on exp w/ machine & tool developm't, debugg'g, & tun'g of blow mold'g process & product'n tool'g for plastic blow-molded fuel tanks. Exp must inc: product tool'g & process design for mono- and multi-layer fuel systs; process design & implementat'n exp w/ pre- & post-product'n phases of resin convers'n, cool'g, trials, & product'n/delivery; conduct'g train'g to plant personnel in blow mold'g process & trial methodology; plant & product start-up of new blow mold'g machines & product lines; product feasibility & evaluat's for fuel tank mfg; 6-layer co-extrus'n blow mold machine maintenance & troubleshoot'g; developm't of blow pin filler necks processes; lead'g process team dur'g plant launch operat's; & evaluat'n, calibrat'n, setup, and tun'g of PWDS head tool'g syss to achieve uniform & lean wall thickness distribut'n of fuel tanks.
