Job Description
FORMA Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking talented and highly motivated Scientist(s) with significant expertise in small molecule drug discovery to join our expanding research team in Watertown, MA. The successful candidate(s) will have scientific knowledge and demonstrated success in the various aspects of lead discovery, including cell-based and biochemical assay development, lead optimization, and drug/target mechanism of action. They should have strong interpersonal communication skills with experience operating within multidisciplinary drug discovery project teams through the pre-clinical stage, particularly in the area of Oncology. Other important qualifications include a commitment to scientific excellence, an appreciation for the balance between technology platform execution and development, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems. The successful candidate(s) must be able to independently manage the technical and strategic needs of their project(s), work productively with junior and senior colleagues, and be able to adapt to the changing needs of an early-stage company.
Qualifications
•Ph.D. in Biology or a life science with 3 or more years of experience in drug discovery. Experience in key oncology research areas such as, tumor metabolism, epigenetics and protein homeostasis is preferred
•Recent laboratory experience in molecular biology biochemistry, enzymology, and/or cell biology is required. This position is laboratory-based
•Familiarity with electronic book reporting required
•Skilled in small molecule assay development, lead discovery, and compound validation as part of a multidisciplinary drug discovery team
•Ability to independently manage the technical and strategic needs of projects, and to concisely communicate results to the team
•Familiarity with oncology targets and pathways, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and propose new drug discovery opportunities
•Excellent written and oral communication skills with internal and external colleagues and the research leadership team
