Job Description | We are seeking truly exceptional Mechanical Engineering talent to join our rapidly expanding Product Development group. These individuals will be responsible for detailed engineering and team leadership while executing on complex wearable-electronics products.
This role requires a combination of team leadership, engineering acumen, involvement as an individual contributor, and design for manufacturability experience in the consumer and/or medical space. This role will report to the VP of Product Development.
The ideal candidate for this role will bring with them a demonstrated depth of experience delivering high-volume products to consumers from concept to mass production. Additionally, the candidate should possess a deep understanding of part design for low and high volume processes including injection molding, die casting, sheetmetal, advanced decoration and material finishes, and machining. The candidate must demonstrate proficient knowledge of preferred part materials for complex part fabrication and performance. This individual should have proven depth of experience evaluating designs against requirements both empirically and theoretically, and the capability to assess manufacturability and failure mode effects. Furthermore, demonstrated ability to assess electro-mechanical designs with engineering rigor and analysis via both calculation and simulation is a firm requirement.
This is a leadership position within an early stage startup requiring the ability to influence across teams of engineers. The successful candidate will have demonstrated background in managing external partners, vendors, and consultants with solid experience integrating with contract manufacturers in Asia and/or North America. A highly motivated and driven professional will succeed in our environment, as long as they are willing to navigate through ambiguity and present solutions at every turn.
You will succeed if you have:
•BSME, MSME with 8-12 years of experience in complex consumer and/or medical mechanical product development
•6-12+ years designing with solid modeling tools such as SolidWorks and/or Pro-Engineer.
•Expertise in consumer electronics product development, and multiple NPI hand-offs of complex electro-mechanical product designs
•Experience with high-volume manufacturing design hand-off
•A passion for building, creating, and working in creative environments
•Outstanding communication and team-management skills, with demonstrated ability to problem solve as part of a team
•Experience bridging internal and external teams to deliver as a cohesive and invested partnership
•Experience employing simulation and analysis tools, as appropriate, to improve engineering outcomes
•Experience managing risk and accountability against a timeline on efforts containing a significant portion of novel development
•Strong technical presentation skills
•Enjoys playing well with others
•Develop robust DOE, and manage execution in partnership with internal and external resources
Even better if you have:
•FEA and/or analysis/simulation experience
•Advanced surfacing skills
•Experience with medical device development processes compliant with ISO13485, 60601
•Background in opto-mechanical engineering
•Experience with sensor engineering and the electro-mechanical trade-offs that affect performance of those subsystems |
