Sr. Product Manager, Molecular Diagnostics
Medical Sciences Business Unit
Position Objective
The objective of this Molecular Diagnostics Product Management position is to develop business cases and own all product management responsibilities for a growing portfolio of Real-Time PCR-based IVD assay products, including custom reagent products. The overarching goal is to develop a strong position for Life Technologies in molecular diagnostic testing for global markets. This position reports to the Director of Molecular Diagnostics (MDx) Product Management in the Medical Sciences Business Unit.
Essential Functions
The successful candidate will assume responsibility for developing business plans and executing product development, launch, and sustaining activities for Real-Time PCR-based reagents and assay kits in selected strategic disease markets. In conjunction with Program Management, R&D and other cross-functional partners, the Product Manager will lead business aspects of both internally-developed reagent products, as well as those leveraged from external collaborations.
The product portfolio to be managed is diverse and growing, and includes a combination of IVD- and RUO-labeled products, as well as custom reagents. The Product Manager will be responsible for accompanying data analysis software and accessory instruments / tools. The selected candidate will be a strong leader within cross-functional teams developing the right product to fill market needs, and will serve as the customer advocate interacting w/ functional partners including R&D, Program Management, Manufacturing, Market Development, Finance, Customer Services, Quality and Regulatory Associates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: defining customer and product requirements for new products, formulating and communicating global launch plans including regulatory strategy and reimbursement approach, competitive analysis, forecasting, positioning and training of internal groups. The MDx Reagents Product Manager will partner closely with the MDx Real-Time PCR Instrument Product Manager and Technical Marketing Specialist to ensure system synergies and optimal customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
· Business leader on cross functional core teams for new IVD and custom products
· Understand, follow and be accountable for business aspects of LIFE Product Commercialization Process (PCP) for new IVD and custom products
· Accurate market analysis, value proposition and forecasting for new IVD and custom products
· Deliver customer and product requirements for new products and custom reagents
· Write business cases communicating global launch plans that include regulatory strategy, reimbursement approach, competitive analysis, forecasting, pricing, positioning and training of internal groups
· Own life cycle management of the MDx assay product portfolio
· Contribute to overarching IVD and custom product strategy and roadmap
· Work with global Market Development teams to ensure the needs of key customers are being met
· Develop a thorough knowledge of target MDx customer segments, markets and the competition
· Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
· Develop core positioning and messaging for products and portfolio
· Develop sales tools and contribute to collateral content in partnership with Market
Development
May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a Life Sciences discipline is required (MBA preferred)
Experience/Requirements:
· Minimum 4 years experience in clinical diagnostics or medical device Product Management and / or Marketing required
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required
· Track record of success in launching clinical diagnostics or medical device products
· Demonstrated ability to develop business cases, customer and product requirements for strategic and/or complex products, soliciting and integrating Voice of Customer inputs
· Demonstrated experience successfully managing product lines, pricing, and forecasting
· Strong leadership skills within cross functional teams; a demonstrated leader through influence with strong negotiation skills
· Is customer-centric and keenly aware of markets, trends and competitors
· Is authentic, transparent and leads by example, holding self and others accountable
· Organized with strong project management skills
· Demonstrates a sense of urgency, contagious optimism and a can do attitude

Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment. Some travel (domestic and international) is required. This position is not eligible for relocation benefits
