JOB SUMMARY:
Manages the day to day activities and is responsible for coaching, mentoring and development of the A&E/Construction Professional claim staff (currently 4) resident in Catlin’s Atlanta, New York and Walnut Creek offices.
Responsible for the overall performance of claim staff in managing and directing complex A&E/Construction Professional and Environmental claims and litigation, and for compliance with applicable guidelines and requirements.
Works closely with Underwriters in developing/furthering relationships in the market and building the business. Is actively involved, highly visible and known in the A&E/Construction professional community.
May also be required to directly manage a limited number of claims which may arise from across various US jurisdictions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages the work activities, performance and development of claims staff.
Coaches, leads and develops claims staff and participates in the development of claims training.
Conducts regular manager audits of staff claims and claim management activities
Establishes and/or recommends claims policies and procedures specific to the exposure under management.
Provides reserve, settlement and payment authority to staff within assigned authority limits.
Prepares and presents management and operational reports as may be required.
Drives regional and corporate initiatives as they relate to claims; May be responsible for managing project teams, special projects or presentations.
Assures appropriate communications with stakeholders/functional areas regarding the handling and/or disposition of claims.
Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues, industry activity and trends.
Actively participate in developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and insureds; Actively participate in industry and trade groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's Degree and Law Degree or equivalent experience.
· 10+ years’ experience managing A&E, Construction Professional insurance coverage, claims and litigation.
Experience managing and developing professional staff.
Experience with multi-state/local laws on property claims, insurance and subrogation.
CPCU, AIC, ARM or other insurance designations desirable.
Strong PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
