Currently, we are seeking a talented AVP of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to join the Corporate Division.
Position Description:
Represent company's interests in and cover actuarial regulatory activities and advocacy efforts focusing on (but not limited to) valuation of liabilities and capital requirements. Expand beyond the company's current U.S. statutory focus to encompass U.S. GAAP and international accounting and solvency developments and convergence projects, such as the U.S. Solvency Modernization Initiative and International Financial Reporting Standards.
Here's what you'll be doing:
-Influence developing actuarial regulatory matters through involvement in industry trade association committees or work groups and/or through direct advocacy working with the government relations department
-Attend relevant regulator meetings and conference calls and report internally on key developments
-Participate in professional activities supporting sound regulatory reform through organizations such as the AAA and SOA
-Work with the Appointed Actuary, actuarial leadership of the divisions, and company management to develop company positions on actuarial regulatory matters
-Provide experienced resource and leadership to the insurance divisions in conducting impact studies or actual implementations related to new valuation methodologies.
-Increase the company's intellectual capital through research and internal presentations on relevant topics related to emerging valuation methods such as fair value of liabilities, risk -margins in reserves, etc.
-Provide general corporate resource for enterprise risk management / corporate actuarial initiatives and special projects.
Factors for success:
-Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) & Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
-Significant (7-10 years) knowledge of and experience with individual life insurance and annuity product designs and features; valuation, nonforfeiture and life insurance company capital requirements; statutory and GAAP financial reporting; financial modeling and asset adequacy analysis.
-Strong ability to faciliate discussions with leaders about complex issues that impact the company; exceptional ability to influence leaders/decision-makers
-Demonstrated experience leading complex, long-term projects
-Ability to develop actuarial models and governance
