Primary responsibilities include:
Play a significant role in the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual state reporting requirements, including the newer workers compensation line of business .
Perform journal entries and account reconciliations including identification and remediation of issues in compliance with audit requirements.
Assist with statutory income statement and balance sheet packages preparation and related comprehensive analysis for variances and trends.
Prepare insurance company financial statements and supplemental filings (including related annual and quarterly processes and analysis packets) and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and regulatory deadlines.
Participate in the internal and external audit process.
Collaborate with teammates and management to identify, design, and implement process improvements for greater efficiency.
Work closely with other functional areas (i.e., actuarial, claims, PRS, E&S OAR) and business management to resolve issues and support achievement of business goals.
Organize team projects, schedules, and resources working with management.
One or more years of accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required;
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensing/candidate strongly preferred.
Insurance accounting experience preferred – GAAP and Statutory.
Strong computer skills including a high degree of proficiency within Excel. Experience with Lawson , Hyperion, and Cognos applications preferred.
Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
High degree of flexibility and responsiveness to change.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills in order to present ideas and findings to management.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and limited supervision.
