Job Description
I. PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Advanced Machinist - Prototyping & Manufacturing is responsible for all phases of the fabrication manufacturing project lifecycle including set-up, CNC programing, machining operations, finishing, inspection, and validation with an emphasis on hands-on prototyping and manufacturing. The Advanced Machinist will work closely with engineering and design to qualify and execute design inputs, as well as coordinate external suppliers, vendors, sub contractors, and resources.

The Advanced Machinist - Prototyping & Manufacturing will prototype and manufacture current and future JAKTOOL products and coordinate with the rest of our manufacturing team. Candidates for this role must be self-driven, have great attention to detail, superior hands-on mechanical skills, good management skills, but also have great team work and collaboration skills to interface with the rest of our design, manufacturing, and management teams.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Subtractive manufacturing of mechanical components, systems, fixtures and tooling
•Manufacturing process development
•Extensive use of CAD (Solidworks) software to read solid models and engineered drawings supporting rapid manufacturing
•Extensive use of CAM (Mastercam) software to create manufacturing job steps and prototype hardware
•Extensive use of [Haas] CNC + manual lathe, mill, GTAW welder, and related manufacturing tooling
•Extensive use of precision inspection + validation instruments (optical comparator, micrometers, particle inspection, etc)
•Coordinate with Testing and QC/QA
•Coordinate project schedule with management, supply chain, and account managers
•Support engineering, design, and manufacturing operations as needed
•Support testing and theoretical analysis of products to determine product safety, efficacy, and conformity
•Participate in periodic product development and design review meetings
•Support brainstorming of new, creative product / process concepts and ideas
•Troubleshoot production issues with project team members
•Develop a broad knowledge base of technologies used in the markets served
•Develop a broad knowledge base of JAKTOOL’s capabilities to support sales
•Work independently on assignments and able to multi-task on several projects

III. SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Material handlers
•Manufacturing interns as assigned

IV. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
•Internal relationships include Marketing, Sales, Operations, Regulatory, Quality Control, Research & Development, and Purchasing
•External groups include vendors, subcontractors, and clients

V. EDUCATION:
•Minimum of High School diploma is required. Vocational certification, professional accreditation, and / or college degree is desired
•Ideal candidate will have at least 5-10 years hands on manufacturing fabrication experience

VI. SKILLS + EXPERIENCE:
•Hands-on experience in manufacturing, fabrication (lathe, mill, machine tools), CAM, and assembly is required
•Able to read CAD (Solidworks) drawings and perform basic manipulation (dimensioning, etc) is required
•Prior experience with prototyping technology
•Must possess a very high degree of hands-on mechanical aptitude
•Prior experience with QA/QC and metrology
•Experience with engineering document control
•Clear understanding of GD&T standards
•Excellent analytical, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential
•Experience in manufacturing electronics a plus
•Good computer skills are required
