Job Description | Overview:
The Applications Engineer shall be routinely involved with all aspects of assigned projects for Electron Beam Welding, Advanced Arc Welding and Resistance Welding Systems. The AE shall generate proposals for the Sales department with a primary emphasis on machine welding applications. The AE will also work with the engineering, manufacturing, and test departments to facilitate the project management activities for the company, and this person shall provide an efficient communication link between staff, customers and visitors.
Responsibilities:
•Processes equipment RFQs and write proposals for the company. Outline/highlight any special areas in buyer specifications to comply with buyer’s requirements, and formulate/direct the execution of the associated proposals.
•Work with sales and engineering in the research and gathering of information related to the preparation of equipment design details, costs and specifications, direct initial concepts and identify application specific challenges.
•Directly support the project management work efforts, equipment proposals and welding processes, and act as the technical and contract liaison for the customer
•Ensure that contracted specifications are adhered to during execution of the assigned contracts, and that the projects are maintained within targeted timelines, schedules and costs.
•
Coordinate internal and external design reviews and teleconferences interfacing with customer personnel on assigned projects. The AE will be directly involved in all assigned internal project meetings and be the designated liaison for Sciaky engineers to forward information, questions, and requests to customer personnel.
•Support customers in laboratory work related to welding applications.
•Provide overall technical understanding of the project goals and act as a channel of communication between all the involved parties, both technical and contractual.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:
•Bachelors Degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy or equivalent
•Welding Technology - Experience with gas tungsten arc, plasma arc and/or electron beam welding processes, with a fundamental metallurgical knowledge preferred.
•Welding Systems - 5+ years of technical and manufacturing experience in welding systems, process automation, sensors and controls
•Machine Controls - Knowledge of CNC machine welding equipment, vision systems and sensor technology with an emphasis on welding
•Production & Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
•Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
•Writing - Excellent writing skills with a strong emphasis on welding technology and related technologies
•Engineering & Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
•Excellent customer communication skills both via phone and in-person
Job Skills & Experience Preferred:
•Motion Control Systems - experience proposing, designing, or utilizing servo control technology
•General working knowledge of CAD modeling systems
•Government Contracts - knowledge of developing and securing government contracts |
