Join us on the cutting edge of lighting technology as an Applications/Development Engineer - SSL Aftermarket (NAFTA) at our Hillsboro, NH automotive lighting manufacturing facility
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Champions new SSL aftermarket product introductions for the automotive lighting channel
Ensure new product introductions, whether manufactured internally or purchased for resale, meet critical performance, quality, costs and (where required) legal specifications
Plays a supportive role in shaping/defining future product roadmap
Must have strong knowledge of end-users and their use of our SSL products in order to influence many key aspects of new product designs and introductions
Generates innovative solutions to a variety of aesthetic, mechanical and thermal challenges
Manages the complete product development process from initial concept through production
Collaborates with Marketing, Purchasing and Manufacturing to ensure all design objectives, cost targets and release dates are met
Advances the state-of-the-art design and engineering of our products through the exploration and application of new technology, materials and processes
Must be able to manage multiple priorities and insure new product launches hit go-to-market commitment dates 100% of the time
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (Design/Mechanical Engineering or related) with at least 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional experience within a cross-functional team and working knowledge of materials, manufacturing and assembly processes
Strong knowledge/familiarity of aftermarket consumers - with passion for SSL automotive lighting applications
Strong computer (CAD) skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task, while maintaining commitments in a results orientated environment
Independent and resourceful in decision making and delegating to accomplish defined goals
Experience working with SSL technology (3+ years)
Experience in thermal testing and analysis
Experience in basic electrical concepts
Understanding/ability in reflector/optics design and aptitude for designing complex mechanical assemblies
Experience with die casting, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and forming processes for a variety of materials (eg aluminium, plastics, glass, etc.)
Knowledge of technical and electrical codes and standards
