Nanometrics, a leading provider of metrology equipment to the semiconductor industry, is currently looking to hire applications scientists for positions in OR and CA.

Job Description:

The Applications Scientist is responsible for engaging with customers to develop metrology solutions for their leading edge technologies using the Nanometrics Unifire (interferometery based) platform. The Applications Scientist is the primary technical contact for Nanometrics customers, providing technical support and application development as well as a key contributor working with the Nanometrics engineering team in product development. The selected applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with Process Engineers in semiconductor and data storage fabs to develop innovative metrology solutions for complex materials and structures. There will be approximately 33% travel required, both domestic and international.

The successful applicant will have strong technical skills, and be self-motivated and energetic.

Job Duties:

Become a technical expert on Nanometrics UniFire products and their applications.
Initiate, develop, and test advanced metrology solutions in response to leading-edge industry developments.
Assist and consult with customers on creating and optimizing applications.
Develop new product requirements with Engineering and Marketing according to customer’s technical needs.
Support customers in adopting Nanometrics UniFire products, from development into production, through effective demonstration and recipe development at customer facilities.
Support customer sustaining engineering activities, including qualification requirements.
Work with internal Nanometrics experts to troubleshoot and resolve product performance issues.

Help to maintain and increase product adoption, and supports sales efforts through technical presentations and demonstrations.
Other duties as required.

Requirements:

Good data analysis, signal processing, and some programming skills.
Knowledge of optics, optical properties of materials, and/or thin films preferred.
Ability to write technical publications and make technology/product presentations.
Good organization and solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
