SUMMARY The Associate Engineer position is an entry level position to allow a recent graduate from an BS Engineering program to begin a career within the Engineering department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

In general, an Associate Engineer will be responsible for obtaining all of the essential duties and responsibilities as called out in the next level position job descriptions. An Associate Engineer may specialize in any of the Engineering job areas. An Associate Engineer by the nature of just entering the workforce after graduation will not possess all of the skills listed within those job descriptions. However, the Associate Engineer does have the fundamental responsibility to pick up those skills.

It is a requirement for the Associate Engineer position to develop the necessary skills to be able to move into the next level Engineering role within 4 years.

Inventing may occur or be required as part of this position:

? Invents or discovers new and useful processes, machines, manufactures, or compositions of matter, or any new and useful improvements thereof for the exclusive use by and ownership of Sargento.

? Assigns all ideas and inventions conceived or developed while employed by Sargento or as a result of employment with Sargento.

? Discloses to Sargento any inventions that are conceived or made.

? Fully assists in making patent applications as well as refraining from disclosing inventions or ideas to others unless requested to do so by Sargento, and assigns any and all rights to Sargento.

Responsible use of the Internet for work is required.

Travel is required as needed to complete the functions within this position

? Daily travel between facilities and local suppliers is to be expected with the use of the person's own vehicle required.

? Overnight travel will be required as needed to support projects or for training purposes.

? Extended periods of overnight travel may be required on occasion to support remote manufacturing operations or in support of projects with remote vendors.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in a relevant area or equivalent. Additional educational courses will be required as needed to sustain departmental/individual technological levels.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Engineering skills within relevant area and drafting skills, strong computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Internet & e-mail.

Must be able to follow technical directions, effectively communicate technically and non-technically in both verbal and in written forms, work effectively in a team, train or instruct maintenance or production personnel, organize and plan work with maintenance people and vendors, and work and learn in a changing technical and team-oriented environment.

Part of development for the Associate Engineer will be to become proficient with AutoCad.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

EIT desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
