| Job Description | Diamond Wire Material Technologies (DMT) is the technology leader in diamond wire cutting technology serving the solar, sapphire, and semiconductor industries around the world. Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, DMT was acquired in 2009 by Meyer Burger, a long-time partner in the solar industry headquartered in Thun, Switzerland.
The anticipated growth of the solar power industry and the application of DMT’s wire for cutting silicon and sapphire wafers used in solar cells, LED, and semiconductor applications positions the company at the forefront of the renewable energy expansion.
Position Summary – This position is at customer location in Mesa, Arizona
This is a digital electronics and software engineering position, requiring the application of both disciplines in order to create and enhance machine control systems as well as design, code and test production and process monitoring software applications that will be used in the manufacturing of diamond wire with a goal of improving and enhancing the production strengths of the business. The position must work with the manufacturing and engineering teams to understand the capabilities of the equipment and the production goals of the business.
Principal Responsibilities
This position participates in electronics and software engineering and integration activities for manufacturing equipment; electroplating, linear motion, wire tension control, data acquisition from sensors and PLC control systems. The position will understand and design electronic sensor and control systems and be able to seek out and evaluate commercially available off the shelf electronics such as sensors, PLCs and motors that can be integrated into new and existing control systems. The position will participate in the design and development of machine control HMI (human machine interface) software applications. The position will participate in the design and development of manufacturing and data processing application software that collects data from hardware systems and web applications into a server based database system such as SQL Server.
o Designs and develops software models
o Designs, develops and tests software applications
o Leads and participates in software design reviews
o Participates in hardware engineering and electronics development
o Develops supporting software engineering documentation
o Resolves software issues and tracks changes to software.
o Participates in electronic control software and of hardware specifications
o Works within a distributed engineering development team
Position Requirements
· BS degree (or equivalent experience) in electrical engineering, computer science or computer engineering plus 3+ years industry development experience.
· A strong mathematics background and the ability to understand and implement formulas and algorithms used to calculate machine metrics and statistics is a must.
· Fluency and specific experience in the understanding development of performance measurement and benchmarking theory and practice is a plus.
· Specific experience in software development methodologies including analysis, design, coding, testing and deployment of software applications is a must.

o Digital Electronics Design & Engineering
o C & C++ Programming
o UNIX Development.
· Experience with Siemens PLC/HMI/Motion Integration with Simatic Manager/Step.
o S7-300 series PLC/ Win-CC Flexible (HMI)/ RS-232/Modbus& Profibus/Profinet Communication.
