Job Description:
The Automation and Controls Engineer for Sunny Delight provides Technical leadership and project management for Sunny Delight Company with specific emphasis on synchronization, standardization and execution of electrical and controls equipment and associated processes within the Company. To provide value-added, quality solutions to business challenges for equipment and controls optimization as well as data and information flow using a combination of internal and external resources. The person will also provide technical skill development, training, coaching and leadership across the Company.
This role will report directly to the VP of Engineering in Cincinnati, OH.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
• Analyze, design, and create original (or modify existing) PLC and other applicable programs to meet project requirements.
• Maintain and develop software in a variety of platforms.
• Work with corporate and plant associates to help reduce losses in materials while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and SunnyD SOP's.
• Provide technical leadership and coordination of new product / process initiatives and improvements.
• Coach and develop Plant Technical team and E&I leaders in their technical capabilities and leadership skills.
• Partner with the AM/PM/E&T Pillars to leverage technical expertise, training capability, and project management skills to develop the capability of Technicians at every level in the organization.
• Use expertise and team-oriented approach to own and achieve key performance results: Throughput, Process Reliability, and Capacity utilization.
• Support day-to-day results by flowing to the work in addition to the medium and long-term project work.
• Support and help drive overall results: Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Workplace Excellence.
• Manage LEDS Application software - Functional leader for LEDS software (WW Performance, MAPLE, etc)
• Leads recommendations on when certain hardware/software platforms need to be upgraded across our plants (drives, PLCs, etc)
• Provide coaching and training to plant E&L leaders on controls related technologies and opportunities.
• Operate effectively in a self-directed team-based, Lean, and flat organization without hierarchical barriers.

Qualifications:
Qualifications / Expectations:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, BSME, BSEE or equivalent technical major or equivalent technical experience is preferred. MS in Engineering and/or MBA is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in controls and electrical systems management.
• Seven to ten years of experience in a technical leadership role in a manufacturing / process environment a plus
• Project Management skills and experience in implementation of significant projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to provide leadership in a team based environment.
• Exposure to Lean / Six sigma tools and training and/or experience working in a Lean process environment
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, are required. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish would be a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills, ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues, problem-solving tools and skills are required.
• Computer skills required: Internet research skills, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook, MS Project, Access)
• Familiarity and capability with other software and computer - based tools desired: ERP systems (i.e. Axapta/MS Dynamics, SAP, J.D. Edwards, etc.), CAD programs, Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers, Wonderware, etc.
• Outstanding time management / prioritization, and organization skills required. |
