Westfield Insurance Analytics Resource Center

Westfield’s Analytics Resource Center (ARC) was created in 2009 to provide three key services to help drive agency, business, and customer analytics across the organization. The ARC provides analytic, business intelligence, and data governance expertise. This center, still in a growth mode, can be credited even in these early stages for providing creative direction, reporting, and timely analytic support to our Leaders who make the most important decisions regarding our company’s future.

Business Intelligence Analyst

This role resides in the Analytics group within the ARC. The ARC’s primary goal is to drive the execution of business, agent and customer analytics across the enterprise. The Analytics group completes analytics projects as prioritized by the organization, and provides enterprise business unit support.

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a natural tendency towards critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and will demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as the interest and ability in expanding their knowledge and skills on a continual basis. The ability to draw from a range of interests, skills, and experience to evaluate issues from multiple aspects is also crucial.

Requirements:
Being successful in this role requires the following education, experience, skills and ability
3 years of experience in analytical positions with demonstrated growth in knowledge, independence and ingenuity. Knowledge of the P&C industry preferred.
BS or BA degree required, preferably in a field of study with a statistics/mathematical orientation. Completion of or significant progress toward the completion of a graduate degree or professional designation requiring intellectual rigor is desired. (e.g., MBA; CAS, CFA, or CPA designations)

Knowledge of financial, statistical and mathematical concepts used in business analysis (e.g., regression, correlation and covariance, multivariate analysis, etc.), business concepts and terms, business measurement principles, business metrics concepts, data analysis and design.

Proficiency in the following software packages (or similar products): Excel (advanced proficiency), Cognos, or Access. Experience using SPSS, ILOG, Arena and/or ExpertFit systems are a plus.

Specific skills desired include: business and data analysis; charting, graphing, and data visualization; statistical methods and statistical modeling; analytic techniques and tools such as OLAP, business scorecards, performance dashboards, and data / text mining; monitoring and forecasting related to business processes and results; framing problems in proper context; predictive analytics; simulation; and optimization.

Interpersonal skills desired include: Clear written and verbal communication; ability to distill and communicate technical material to non-technical business users; active listening; conflict resolution and negotiation; creative problem solving; strategic thinking (sees big picture/ high-impact issues); teamwork and team-building; influencing and selling ideas or points of view.

Advanced Marketing analytics experience (e.g., demand models, propensity scoring models, evidence-based marketing analytics, pattern identification, analysis of big data, text and data mining of unstructured information) is a plus, but not required.
