Position Overview:

We have expanded our technology base to include coated sands and ceramics. These coatings could incorporate a variety of polymers, catalysts, surfactants and coupling agents are designed to generate unique performance properties. We are looking for an innovative Chemist/Engineer with a strong background in polymer and material sciences to work in our R&D facility in Houston, Texas.


Job Responsibilities:
Conduct and coordinate laboratory analyses required to monitor raw materials and to improve, in cooperation with the Technical Service, Manufacturing, and Commercial Teams, the company’s product line.
Use statistical methods, scientific and engineering principles to analyze and interpret experimental data and help make data-based technical decisions.
Knowledge of structure-property relationship in polymers and composites as well as durability of polymers in field application.
Facilitate organizational understanding of the chemistry behind the company’s product line and leads the effort to adjust chemistry for technological, efficiency, and performance improvements.
Serve as the expert to the company in the field of polymer/material science and how those technologies are utilized in our product lines.
Assist customer service resolving customer issues, through the development and management of a quality control system for raw materials and products, and ongoing research and development in the area of chemicals and resin coated proppant sand.
Be able to lead, coordinate or assist (as a team member) in projects or assignments that may include both internal and external resources.
Qualifications:
BS degree in related science/engineering and 5-10 years of experience.
MS degree in related science/engineering and 3-5 years of experience.
PhD degree in related science/engineering and 1-3 years of experience.
Experience in the oil industry is a plus.
Experience in trouble shooting production problems would show a logical approach to problem solving and an ability to work under pressure.
An understanding of material science, surface science, thin film coatings and their properties.
Ability to build strong working relationships with management, cross functional teams and customers.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work independently.
