Chief Emerging Technology Engineer

Job Description
As a Chief Emerging Technology Engineer, this individual will participate in setting strategic direction for R&D and product development efforts, while ensuring tactical deliverables are produced by his/her team. He/she will recommend new technologies, products and enhancements that meet market demands at appropriate pace. He/she will help set technical policies and remain aware of trends adjusting the technical roadmap accordingly. This person will evaluate technical alternatives and recommend approaches to solving complex problems. Additionally, a key role will be contribution of intellectual property to the company docket. Responsibilities
The Chief Emerging Technology Engineer will: 1. Maintain and nurture positive, supportive working relationships with business partners. 2. Interact with executives and communicate results and issues as necessary 3. Interact with vendors and other relevant professionals in on-line and television sports broadcasting in search of trends, new developments, and technology innovation that might apply to assigned ESPN department/program 4. Manage multiple vendor partnerships 5. As assigned, participate in maintaining internal and external relationships 6. Expertly articulate technical findings, issues and outcomes to team members and business partners 7. Produces technical papers for publication both internally and externally Ability to lead in industry panel discussions


Basic Qualifications
A minimum of 15 years’ experience and an advanced college degree in a related field plus: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on industrial experience in life-cycle product design/development in the area of Augmented Virtual applications. Strong capability in analytical and creative thinking. Expertise in various facets of product development from inception to deployment with a proven track record. Possess advanced knowledge of trends and breakthroughs in technologies (including computer vision, graphics and image processing), systems, equipment, and best practices that enhance broadcast production. Has advanced knowledge of video processing software, products and standards. Advanced knowledge of sports systems requirements of on air production operations. Advanced knowledge of ESPN’s objectives and standards.


Preferred Education
MS Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics with emphasis on Computer Vision.


Required Education
College degree required, BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics.
