Coating Manager

We are seeking a Coating Manager who possesses the skills to manage both technicians and engineers, while also working to advance our coating capabilities. This individual should have senior level coating experience, in addition to management skills.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

•Providing department leadership, work direction and training to employees •Working with the Coating Work Leader to manage the clean room and coating areas •Researching, designing and developing complex thin film coatings; determining best materials and coating processes; and designing related tooling •Preparing cost and material requirement estimates for quotes •Working with customers to resolve complex custom designs and technical problems •Determining coating and test equipment manufacturing capability/test accuracy and recommending equipment upgrades, modifications and/or improvements •Determining cause and corrective procedures for failed coating runs •Overseeing department preventative maintenance program •Keeping abreast of ongoing changes in the thin film technical field •Coordinating with the Thin Films Engineer to expand department capabilities

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or related scientific field (Master’s preferred) •At least 10 years of optical coating experience preferred •Experience with physical depositions processes to include electron beam evaporation and ion-assisted deposition (IAD) •Experience with thin film characterization •Minimum of 3-5 years of management and/or leadership experience in a production environment •Methodical and detail-oriented •Organized •Effective written and oral communicator •Ability to multi-task •Production-minded •Team-oriented •Strong work ethic
