Coatings Process Engineer

Job Description
Role Summary/Purpose The Coatings Process Engineer will support the on-going introduction of new technology, equipment, and coatings processes in our 200+ person facility where high pressure turbine airfoil blades are manufactured. In this role, you will prove to be both challenging and exciting as you will successfully scope, plan, implement and optimize diffusion coatings technology and its use in the business. In this role, you will:
Essential Responsibilities Provide the technical leadership for diffusion coatings processes / products attaining quality excellence with cost superiority

Develop a thorough understanding of core process, which consist primarily of diffusion coatings and heat treatment applications

Interface with Design Engineers, Materials Engineers, Engine Assembly and vendors as appropriate to ensure smooth flow of quality hardware at lower cost

Support / trouble shoot all related process specific equipment – including degreasers, electro-plating lines, vacuum furnaces, grit blasters, atmosphere furnaces, etc

Facilitate specific coatings process development and continuous improvement by learning all aspects of diffusion coatings including plating, blasting, metallography, mount prep, coating type classification, characterization, etc

Provide technical leadership on state-of-the-art investment and methods to improve quality, inventory turnover and cost performance for coatings’ core processes

Provide day to day technical support to the personnel / equipment associated with diffusion coatings

Support, identify, and implement lean initiatives for coatings lead time improvement

Develop, maintain and improve coating related special tooling

Maintain technical plans, generate and compile source substantiation data for all processes

Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience in a leadership role)
