Commercial Lines Underwriter -
Job Summary:
Ensures a profitable book of business by appropriately evaluating the acceptability of risks within delegated authority levels. Partners with agents to manage a moderately complex book of commercial business. Classes Include New/Used Auto Dealers, Garage and Service Centers. Demonstrates decision-making authority with limited supervision, recommending quality exceptions where appropriate to maximize profitability and meet business plans. Markets Company products and services to agents and actively participates in the agency management process. Responsible for working with and protecting confidential and proprietary customer and Company information.
Requirements
Make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls. Utilizes underwriting guidelines ensure compliance with state regulations.
Within delegated authority levels and Company guidelines, accepts, rejects or modifies new and renewal business to ensure a profitable book of business.
Ability to use creativity and underwriting knowledge to write risks and retain business.
Develops ongoing relationships with agents to discuss market appetite, quality and profitability of submissions, service standards, and underwriting and/or product changes.
Communicates with assigned agents on underwriting issues including, but not limited to, decisions on cancellations, declinations, exposure concerns, and survey results.
Request Inspections as needed.
Maintain electronic files.
Understanding of Garage/Dealers insurance products and underwriting. |
