Commercial Manager

Job Description
Summary:

The Commercial Manager has the responsibility for establishing the region’s pricing and pricing strategy. The position manages terms and conditions. The position works closely with sales, customer service, operations management and others as needed to prepare quotations that are accurate, professional and meet customer expectations.

Requirements (qualifications & skills):

Education – Bachelor degree preferred with advanced training in operations, finance, and metallurgy.

Experience necessary – thorough knowledge of heat treat processes and equipment. A minimum five years hands on experience with various types of heat treatments.

Language skills - proficiency in oral and written communication for interfacing with top management levels, shop supervision and customers.

Experience with online based systems like Lotus Notes, Salesforce.com and Excel spreadsheets required

Work environment – usually office type conditions, however some portion of day is spent in industrial setting in what could be either hot or cold, dirty conditions.

Must possess strong metallurgical knowledge and capable of interpreting blue prints and specifications.

Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive feedback.

Essential job functions (duties & responsibilities):

Prepare ALL quotations for the region’s plant and greenfield opportunities.

Prepare quotations using a disciplined mathematical model.

Official keeper of target hourly rates for all furnaces in the region.

Perform specification review and best practice processes in developing proposals.

Where proposals require capital investment, appropriate research is performed to develop capital budget and support ECAR request. Technical reviews with key supplier are held as needed.

Must be able to complete customer supplied costing spreadsheets.

Collaborates with customers and internal departments such as quality, customer service, order entry, billing and accounts receivables to resolve issues.

Meaningful metrics are prepared and presented to operations management on a regular basis.

Promote and practice team work with other plants and corporate staff.

Must work in a manner consistent with the EMS.

Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
