Description: Chubb is seeking a Commercial Underwriter for the New York City office. This position offers a unique opportunity for an Underwriter to develop a broad range of skills across multiple segments and lines of business.
This underwriter will manage an $8M book of diverse Property & Casualty business that includes a mix of middle-market Commercial and Information & Network Technology (INT) companies within our Commercial Insurance Specialty (CIS) and Technology Insurance Specialty (TIS) departments. Lines of business include package, automobile, umbrella, international, workers compensation and technology errors & omissions for both domestic and international exposures. Account premiums range from $50,000 to $1,000,000.
Underwriting duties include:
•Identifying opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources
•Risk selection, analysis (including documentation) and service of accounts based on Chubb guidelines
•Implementing and managing effective pricing and rate strategies for profitable growth of the book
•Building, maintaining and managing successful producer relationships within a highly experienced NYC broker community
•New business production of $1M annually.
•Identifying cross-sell opportunities with other Chubb departments.
•Meeting with new and renewal customers, individually or as part of a Chubb team, to make sales presentations and negotiate coverage, price, financial terms and service delivery, as necessary.
•Working in a team environment with other Underwriters, Loss Control, Claims and Operations.
Skills Required:
•Experience in multi-line package underwriting; knowledge of technology industry and INT experience preferred
•Knowledge of marketing principles, pricing & rate strategies and how to apply them to attain underwriting profit
•Track record of service-oriented performance
•Interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners
•Strong sales and marketing skills; must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer management and new business development; experience with Multinational brokers a plus
•High degree of proficiency in the underwriting process and ability to partner effectively with an Underwriting Associate
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
•3 to 5 years of underwriting experience required |
