The Continuous Improvement Engineer performs a wide variety of duties in support of a comprehensive continuous process improvement program, including assessing the effectiveness of the manufacturing process, identification, analysis, measurement and control of nonconforming process conditions. The CI Engineer implements approved engineering projects, and acts to reduce costs, improve productivity, and optimize equipment.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
•Bachelor of Science Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)
•Success in applying Principles of LEAN
•Multiple Years of Multi-Disciplined Engineering Experience (Process, Product, Project, Quality, Plant, CI)
•Computers Knowledge to include: CAD, Database Applications, MS Project, Excel, ERP, Programmable Logic
•Interpersonal & communication at all levels of company
•Problem Solving, Time Management, Troubleshooting
•Proven Understanding of CI tools: Lean / Six Sigma
•Proficient: Mech/Electrical, Pneumatic & Hydraulic
•Passion and drive to continuously improve
•Effective leadership, mentoring, and training skills
•Quantitative Judgement/Assessment of technology
•Purchasing/negotiating price in services/equip
Required Licensure/Certification Registration:
•Driver's License and Passport
Job Location/Working Conditions/Equipment:
•Office setting 70% of the day and manufacturing plant floor 30% of the day. Exposed to machinery where safe operating procedures must be followed. Personal protection equipment must be worn. Ability to lift up to 30lbs and climb stairs. Regular (2-3) monthly overnight travel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Act as an agent for change and challenge the status quo to drive manufacturing process improvements
•Researches and makes recommendation regarding Process Management/Improvement action plans & policies
•Meets with dept. team members to resolve nonconforming process; must be able to work all shifts if required
•Develops & presents programs to promote operator awareness of nonconforming conditions corrective action
•Execute tactical projects and workshops aligned with attaining the future state
•Responsible for the coordination of complex and multi-disciplined engineering projects from concept to completion
•Coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects to ensure quality, cost, and time objectives are met
•Prepares engineering documents including cost estimates, expenditure requests, project schedules, ROI
•Submits product/process design and instruction specifications, operating manuals, and technical reports
•Awards contracts to outside vendors offering best value and appropriate quality assuring competitive process
•Effectively communicates engineering information to cross-functional team across multi-state locations
•Deploy LEAN methodology to systematically drive waste from manufacturing processes
•Facilitate process improvement meetings assembling appropriate teams to identify waste reduction opportunities
•Assess feasability and soundness of proposed solutions or equipent when data is insufficient
•Address root causes utilizing problem solving skills and proof with improved performance metrics
Relocation assistance for the Continuous Improvement Engineer position will be provided to a location within a 30 mile radius of Hartford City, IN.
Hours: General Business Hours 8-5pm
Occasional overnight travel to other plants, vendor locations, etc.
