General Summary
This position reports to the VP Supply Chain Finance and leads all facility cost accounting and analysis, manufacturing performance analysis, inventory control, and general accounting duties for the Maxton Plant which has 11 soup production systems, a full distribution center, 800 total headcount and $500MM annual cost. Includes the development of operating plans, forecasting with an assessment of risk and opportunity, TDC analysis and reporting, and SOX compliance. Responsible for timely and accurate financial closings, internal management reporting, and supporting analysis. Ensures an adequate system of internal control is maintained, general ledger accounts are correctly stated and classified, and that financial reporting is prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Priciples (GAAP). Member of the Plant's executive leadership steering team.

Principal Accountabilities
Directs and manages manufacturing related finance and accounting functions (i.e., cost, capital, payroll and inventory) for the manufacturing plant through effective interaction with direct reports and other plant departments. Leads annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and management accounting/reporting process. Reviews and advises the management team on all financial/budgetary requirements and develops financial goals with input from other departments. Ensures complete and accurate financial reporting over cost performance, inventory control, general accounting processes, payroll, and all other financial activities. Oversees and directs all general ledger accounting activities including maintenance of the accounts and monthly reconciliation. Ensures items are correctly classified and all reporting is prepared in accordance with GAAP

Active involvement in the development and establishment of plant strategic and functional goals and initiatives and accountable in driving achievement of plant objectives. Ensures that plant goals and initiatives compliment division and corporate goals.

Active involvement in plant daily direction setting (DDS), operation performance and safety behavior processes through engaged participation in operation performance reviews and on a DDS team and completion of safety behavior reviews and training. Identifies opportunities and drives involvement of accounting staff in DDS and safety behavior and training processes.

Performs and provides performance analysis to management that assists the facility meet its objectives, find targeted areas of opportunity to minimize TDC and drive ROIC.

Ensures complete and accurate financial reporting over cost performance, inventory control, general accounting processes, payroll, and all other financial activities. Oversees and directs all general ledger accounting activities including maintenance of the accounts and monthly reconciliations. Ensures items are correctly classified and all reporting is prepared in accouranc with GAAP.

Maintains adequate control procedures over all accounting and financial activities.
Provides guidance to ensure that needed internal accounting controls are in place to protect company assets. Ensures SOX compliance and updates documentation as required.

Actively manages career development of Maxton 5 person finance staff including performance reviewe, provides coaching, counseling, and mentoring as required to increase performance. Ensures identified development needs of direct reports are met by job opportunities and/or internal and external training opportunities. Champions realization of the leadership model and actively recruits individuals that will live the model and impact the talent level of the organization.

Job Specifications

Minimum education required: BA/BS in Accounting

Education desired: MBA or graduate level degree in Accounting

Years of relevant experience: 8+years at senior managerial level with broad financial, cost accounting, factory accounting, information systems, and supply chain responsibilities.
CPA/CMA and SAP experience a plus.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Must have proven leadership skills with ability to build trust, provide direction, drive alignment and execute with excellence.

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Must have strong planning, organization, and problem solving skills

Strong proficiency in use of applicable financial and in-house software.

Expertise in financial forecasting and budgeting.

Expertise in managerial financial reporting and analysis.

Solid experience in preparing financial statements.

Working knowledge of GAAP and SOX requirements.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with less than 5% travel. 10% of time required on factory floor for safety behavior observations and Daily Direction Setting/daily Operations meetings, which requires the wearing of standard personal protection equipment.
