Job Description | As part of the Engineering team, the Controls Engineer will be the primary engineering lead for all aspects of electrical, controls and instrumentation specification and integration.
Responsibilities:
•Follow all general safety regulations and use provided safety equipment as required; develop, follow and enforce HS&E practices and policies on all shifts with respect to the control system.
•Analyze processes and initiate improvements with respect to software, etc. Document methods and systems to standardize procedures and maintain production controls. Including test plans, functional documents, site documents.
•Troubleshoot existing systems. Develop and maintain control configuration programming in accordance with design documents to meet functional specification.
•Assist in and lead design of reliable, high up time, systems, including : creating detailed equipment specifications and instrument data sheets, creating bills of materials, redlining existing site drawings to be updated.
•Evaluate Cost and Complexity vs. operational difficulty in recommending and designing new systems and components.
•Assist in installation and start-up of new systems.
•Assist in training of onsite skilled personnel in maintaining instruments as well as operating system.
Skills & Qualifications:
•Minimum BS in Chemical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering with solid knowledge of controls instrumentation is required. Advanced degree preferred.
•Minimum 5 years experience working in a pilot/commercial plant or a research and development facility in a relevant field is required.
•Experience with Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID's, instrumentation and control.
•Expertise in Microsoft suite products including Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
•Must have knowledge of Allen Bradley, PLC & HMI software, Wonderware or SIEMENS; all Preferred
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•Ability to effectively work individually and in a team with minimal supervision. |
