Position Description
American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, validation and design of driveline systems, chassis systems and forged products for trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles and passenger cars.

Currently, this Tier 1 automotive components supplier needs a talented individual to fill the role of Controls Engineer at our World Headquarters location in Detroit, MI.

The position responsibilities include the following:







Supports purchasing, implementation and installation of new and rebuilt equipment through PLT’s.

Strives for continuous improvement of equipment and processes towards improving reliability and technology.

Manages continuous improvement projects as required.

Maintains close communication with skilled trades workgroups to assure precision implementation of projects.

Responsible for ISO documentation requirements.

Regular contact with others outside the work group.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements





B.S. degree with major in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent training required. Technical certification with PLC or CNC Controls or computers a plus.

1-3 years work experience in Controls Engineering with plant floor experience preferred.

Experience in Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, Servo Controllers, HMI products and software preferred.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think logically under pressure.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical as well as non-tech personnel. Ability to work independently as well as a member of multi -functional team.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Strong PC knowledge is required.
