Controls Engineer

Job Description
Aggressive Tooling is seeking a Controls Engineer that is excited about automation, thrives on solving problems, and is detail orientated. The candidate will work with a strong team of other Controls Engineers to design, implement, and document custom-built machines that weld, gauge, and perform leak tests on exhaust systems.

Salary, Hours, and Travel
Wages range between $22 and $35 per hour, contingent on skillset
We allow flexible hours and workweeks. Our current weekly average is around 50 hours
Travel may be required: Approximated to be 15% of the time, but could be more or less depending on the candidate's desires
When travel is needed, day and one-night trips are the norm with three or four overnight trips worst-case
International travel to Mexico, Canada, and Japan is optional

Duties and Responsibilities
Scope and design a complete machine controls package (including electrical and pneumatic)
PLC/HMI Programming
Review machine designs from the mechanical perspective
Create books documenting finished products
Machine support (remote and on-site)

Skills
Allen Bradley PLC Programming – CompactLogix / RSLogix 5000
Panel View Plus HMI Programming
Machine safety best practices
Strong critical thinking and problem solving
Strong written and verbal communication
Detail orientated
Project management
Machine troubleshooting (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic)
Software: AutoCAD (Basic 2D), Microsoft Office

The following skills are preferred, but not required:
AutoCAD Electrical
Ethernet / IP Communication
Robotic integration
Serial Communication
Siemens PLC Programming

Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a controls engineering program with 2 years in field experience or 5+ years related experience in the field. Automotive manufacturing background preferred.
