Job Description | The Controls/Automation Engineer’s role is to provide Engineering, Design and Programming services to the Project Execution group throughout the lifespan of a project. He/She is the primary contact for all controls and system automation issues related to a project.
Responsibilities:
•Field inquiries from the proposal engineer, customer, customer’s engineer or constructor during the project execution processes. Serve as primary customer contact for controls related issues.
•Attend Bid, Kick-Off/turnover and Project Meetings as required.
•Provide a final and completely reconciled Controls/Automation scope of supply by time of the project turnover meeting.
•Write detailed controls/automation sequence of operation for projects as assigned.
•Provide complete fabrication drawings, bill of materials and programming for projects as assigned.
•Make recommendations for new product development and/or product standards based on market requirements.
•Support & embrace the TAS Standardized Control Philosophy on all non-custom projects
•Continually evaluate Turbine Air Systems’ control technology position in the market place and provide recommendations to management for change.
•Follow the Project Execution Process, and make recommendations for improving the Process for greater productivity and communications.
•Learn existing TAS proprietary control system and support the Aftermarket and Service Group.
•Participate in the detailed and through system functional checkout for all equipment prior to shipment.
•Support projects in the field as required, including site work if necessary.
Qualifications:
•Highly motivated, self-starter with a strong working knowledge of controls and automation systems specifically in the power generation, refrigeration, and process industries.
•Highly organized and responsible. Must be comfortable in handling controls projects in excess of $500,000.
•Strong technical aptitude and the ability to read, support development of, and interpret P&ID’s.
•Familiarity with current industry philosophies with regard to controls/automation system design, integration and operation.
•Strong experience in PLC based system design, programming.
•Mastery of Rockwell Automation RSLogix5000 Suite and VFD’s preferred.
•Experience in GE Fanuc PLC’s and VFD’s preferred.
•Experience in developing and implementing Man-Machine-Interfaces-MMI. WonderWare, PanelMate.
•Experience in coordinating system integrating with other systems-Gateways, Com Links, etc.
•Field commissioning and troubleshooting experience.
•Excellent communication and customer management skills.
•Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
•Strong CAD skills-AutoCAD-R2000 or later.
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum 5 years as a Controls/Automation Engineer for an Equipment Packager or Systems Integrator.
•Must be able to design, configure, program, install & commission PLC controlled projects.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
•Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year program or qualified work experience.
•A substitution of military leadership and/or technical work experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree. |
