Job Description | This position provides candidates with an opportunity to conduct a variety of legal work. Candidates must have contract negotiation and drafting experience and proven ability to develop and implement legal strategies that support business and financial objectives. Candidates should be admitted to practice before the New Jersey State Bar and in good standing. Candidates should have at least three years of pharmaceutical experience with a law firm or pharmaceutical company and a minimum of 5 years of total professional legal experience.
Specific responsibilities include:
Generally provide legal support and advice to designated client groups within Celgene, in North American including, but not limited to Sales and Marketing, National Account and Trade Team, Contracting and Pricing and Market Access.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal agreements such as Service Provider Agreements, Master Service Provider Agreements (MSAs), consultant agreements, wholesale and distribution agreements, pharmacy agreements and rebate agreements.
The candidate will be responsible for a variety of legal matters which will include advising internal clients in the areas of government pricing and government price reporting obligations, federal contracting requirements, pricing and reimbursement advice and compliance counseling. The candidate will be responsible for advising on Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Medicare Part D, Department of Veterans Affairs, and 340B Program eligibility and requirements and other changes to drug price reporting requirements.
The candidate will also support general non-clinical contracting support for the sales organization, Canada and Lifebank, such as contractual needs related to Speaker Bureau, Advisory Board meetings and contracts with Health Care Professionals.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
•Must have a J.D. and be admitted to and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar.
•At least five years of experience as an attorney in commercial transactions with either a law firm or in-house within the pharmaceutical/biotech, chemical and biological sciences industry. Prior work experience in both a law firm and in-house is strongly desired.
•Excellent skills in drafting and analyzing contractual terms.
•Must have experience in advising on government pricing and government price reporting matters, including federal contracting requirements, pricing and reimbursement advice, Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Medicare Part D, and 340B pricing.
•Ability to prioritize and multi-task, processing multiple transactions to satisfactory completion.
•Ability to appropriately balance legal and business risks while complying with short turnaround cycles.
•Attention to detail.
•Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
•History of self-motivation, sound judgment and excellent interpersonal relations.
•Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
•Must be flexible.
•Travel within North America may be up to 30% of the time.
