| Job Description | Sojitz Corporation of America, a wholly-owned subsidiary and the Americas region headquarters of Sojitz Corporation, a Japanese trading company listed on the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges, seeks an experienced corporate transactional attorney to join its legal team in New York City.
Position Description
The successful attorney candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice to internal clients on a variety of legal and compliance matters including regarding day-to-day corporate generalist work, intra-corporate agreements, mergers and acquisitions, corporate policies and procedures, subsidiary management, and litigation strategy and management. This attorney will also have outstanding contract drafting skills and be detail oriented. S/he must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a strong team member with a collaborative approach. S/he will have excellent judgment and the ability to multi-task and service a large internal client base. This attorney will also appreciate a diverse culture and have the ability to advise clients in a clear and succinct manner.
Required Skills
Fluent in Portuguese and/or Spanish
General corporate transactional experience
Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal and compliance matters
Strong business acumen with business-oriented legal solutions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Minimum Requirements
5+years relevant experience in international law firm and in-house legal practice, with a preferred minimum of at least 4 years at a top U.S. law firm; member in good standing of the New York State bar; and a law degree from a well-regarded law school.
