Cost Accountant - Exempt
Basic Function: Responsible for all cost accounting activities, procedures and controls at the Cleaver-Brooks, Engineered Boiler Systems plant.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree, accounting major or related field preferred
Experience Required: 3+ years in Cost Accounting or Manufacturing Accounting preferred; experience with ERP system preferred.

Essential Duties:
1.Ensure accuracy of actual costs incurred in operations - as collected by work orders and other subsidiary systems – and maintain records and databases for cost reporting purposes.
2.Create and maintain Percentage of Completion models and job-cost tracking system for use in projections as well as end-of-month revenue and cost of sales recognition.
3.Participate in meetings which affect cost reporting. Actively uncover potential profitability risks in jobs and communicate concerns to appropriate people.
4.Perform a wide variety of cost related investigations, participate in team efforts to identify root causes of problems, actively work to make solution recommendations and to implement changes.
5.Provide any support necessary in the department to bring about successful periodic closings, make accurate forecasts, develop budgets, and correctly value inventories and fixed assets.
6.Provide direct support to the Controller in all aspects of accounting function.
7.Prepare monthly account reconciliations, investigate differences, make adjusting entries.
8.Prepare a wide variety of monthly journal entries, supporting documents, and reports as directed.
9.Special reports and projects, other tasks, administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned.
10.Other duties as assigned; must keep current with accounting field, continually train to accept more challenging responsibilities.
Physical Skill and Effort / Working Conditions and Hazards: Work requires a few simple, but rapid, hand operations. Work requires simple, easy muscular movements. Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible / little or no exposure.
Contacts: Will interact with all levels of management and other personnel at plant, division, inter-company, and corporate levels. In some cases will need to diplomatically deal with mild to moderate conflicts in procedures, policies and practices. Occasional interaction with vendors, customers, regulatory authorities, financial institutions and other interested parties. Will sometimes involve mild conflicts or disagreements.
