| Job Description | Key Elements & Responsibilities: AAM is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, validation and design of driveline systems, chassis systems and forged products for trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles and passenger cars.
Currently, this Tier 1 automotive components supplier needs a talented individual to fill the role of a Cost Engineer at our World Headquarters location in Detroit, MI.
Key Requirements of Position:
•Responsible for the development and testing of cost models for various products/processes - castings, stampings, forgings etc;
•Implement, maintain and update associated cost models with real time quotes or valid technical data (as applicable).
•Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and the outside Supply Base as required.
•Train additional associates in related AAM global locations.
•Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities along with process efficiency improvements.
•Drive optimum use of materials and process in domestic and international market studies for various commodities to arrive at the best global sourcing decision.
•Plan and conduct cross functional meetings for data collection and validation as required.
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
•Minimum 7 years of automotive experience including knowledge of driveline/drivetrain products and manufacturing methods/processes.
•Strong technical expertise in casting, forging and machining categories preferred.
•Expertise in MS Office Suite and Oracle ERP required.
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
•Program Management experience preferred.
•Excellent interpersonal skills required (i.e., for presentations, meeting facilitation, etc)
•Self motivated individual with the ability to work independently required.
•Willingness to travel as required to plant & supplier sites to assess the products and process systems.
