Citizens Bank has an opening for an experienced attorney to join its Business Services Legal Team. This team is made up of a group of attorneys and paralegals who advise Citizens Bank business lines in matters relating to commercial engagements of third party service providers, with specific focus on information technology, privacy and data protection, intellectual property (including patents, trademarks and domain names), general risk management, and information security, as well as regulatory and corporate governance matters.

Job Location: This position is located in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Job Responsibilities:
•This attorney will focus on representing internal clients within the various business lines of Citizens Bank in their contractual relationships with third party vendors, with the primary responsibility of reviewing and negotiating all manner of vendor contracts
•The position will also require working on issues with and cooperating with other vendor management and compliance areas within Citizens Bank with the overall objective of ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory regimes, in particular applicable laws and regulations regarding vendor contracting and vendor oversight
•This attorney will be required to stay abreast of developments in the regulatory environment affecting financial services organizations, and to report on those changes to senior management
•This attorney will be expected to advise senior management of risks within the Citizens Bank organization and to help devise practical solutions



Qualifications

•Required: J.D. degree and license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction
•Required: 5-7 years experience within the legal department of a large financial services or other highly-regulated company, or comparable experience at a national firm
•Required: Ability to prioritize work, effectively manage a large number of issues at one time, and interact effectively with senior management, all in pursuit of the primary goals of providing excellent client service while appropriately protecting the enterprise
•Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced organizational skills, and ability to work on a collaborative team while also exhibiting the ability to own individual projects to completion
•Preferred: Knowledge of federal and state laws impacting financial services companies, especially GLBA, Dodd-Frank, Reg. W, etc.
