Position Description
Ryerson, a leader in metals distribution and fabrication in the US, is currently seeking a Counsel/Sr. Counsel with a proven legal background and strong transactional and securities law experience. The attorney will be the lead internal counsel with respect to negotiating customer and procurement contracts and will provide legal support in connection with finance, securities law, M&A and real estate matters.
Position Requirements
• J.D from an accredited school of law. Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
• Minimum of 4-8 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, preferably initially with a prominent national law firm before moving to an in-house position.
• Experience supporting large, international businesses preferred.
• Exposure to and/or familiarity with the following areas of law: corporate contracts, finance, securities, M&A and real estate.
• Experience dealing with the SEC.
• Must be willing to travel (~10%).
• Must possess strong initiative as well as excellent management, teamwork, delegation and problem solving skills.
• Must possess ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
