D&O Underwriting and Product Manager

Job Description
The D&O Underwriting and Product Manager will be a ""hands-on"" leader with a strong background in D&O focusing on management liability, employment practices liability, and crime coverages.



The successful candidate will have a track record of progressive underwriting and product development success in the D&O lines with a carrier, Agency or brokerage. Should be comfortable working in a matrixed environment with the ability to influence and build relationships within the company and distribution channels.

Responsibilities:
Makes recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy.
Assist in development of new products, training and implementation in the field.
Analyzes quality and quantity of highly complex risks underwritten; prepares and presents reports to management.
Manages referrals from the field.
Determines appropriate pricing of complex risks for assigned book of business based on financial and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements.
Develops and maintains agency relationships.
Keeps current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends. May participate in industry trade groups.
May mentor and guide less experienced underwriters and assist in the development of underwriting training.
Participates in underwriting audits to ensure regulatory compliance
Collaborates with internal functional departments such as actuarial, claim, safety management, risk control, legal/regulatory, regional and other business units to ensure alignment with strategy and goals.
Assists regions in coordination of marketing plans, attends agency-related meetings with focus on business line to maintain agency relationships and assists in developing new business sources.

Qualifications:
Required:

Minimum 10 years underwriting experience
5 or more years of D&O focused underwriting experience
Excellent customer service, networking and relationship building skills;
Excellent sales and negotiation skills;
Strong problem-solving ability, and excellent presentation skills;
Proven leadership capability; and
Pro-active, driven and takes initiative
Visibility within the D&O market
Knowledge of distributions channels existing relationships within community
Knowledge of emerging issues and the completive landscape


Preferred:

The following experience is preferred:
5+ years Risk Management;
5+ years Field Underwriting;
5+ years agency experience; and/or
5+ years specific business segment experience.
