Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced design engineer in our Portland, Oregon engineering office. You’ll be responsible for providing engineering design for bridge and/or stormwater quality projects for national and international clients including preparation of plans, design calculations and shop drawings.
Our Design Engineers:
Support a national sales force in the design of stormwater quality, detention/retention and drainage structures and/or plate, precast and steel bridge structures.
Promote and develop our world leading and locally produced technologies.
Evaluate complex site problems every day, using industry leading engineering tools.
Develop estimates and schedules and direct the work of detailers and drafters.
Act in a consultative role to identify, design, and implement solutions to meet water quality and structural objectives. They provide site development professionals engineering support and product representation for our full product line.
Acquire knowledge of competition and market trends and create strategies and designs that enable successful installations of CONTECH products.
Occasionally travel to job sites for pre/post installation engineering consultation.
Maintain knowledge and certifications in civil/structural engineering field.
Attends industry trade shows, continuing education courses and seminars as necessary.
Requirements
• BS in Civil or related engineering field, structural engineering, hydrology and/or hydraulics knowledge preferred
• EIT/PE certification preferred
• 1-3 years relevant experience with site civil or structural projects with emphasis on drainage
or bridge design preferred
• Experience working with state DOT’s and AASHTO design criteria is preferred
• Ability to prepare and review engineering documentation
• Basic CAD skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Computer proficient
• Team-oriented
• Ability to travel by air and car
