About the Role:


Hydro Aluminum North America, Inc. is recruiting an experienced Die Shop/Extrusion Process Engineer for our St. Augustine FL site. As Die Shop/Extrusion Process Engineer, this position will be key in aligning die design/correction with the aluminum extrusion process. Recommends and prepares changes, additions, and modifications which will facilitate value created in the manufacturing process.

Career Path: This position has upward mobility into Extrusion Manager role and/or other leadership positions.

Area of Responsibility

Provides strong HSE leadership at all levels. Ensures Hydro's HSE standards are well integrated into the manufacturing processes. Leads by example that safety is a way of life and demonstrates a passion for an injury-free workplace.

Designs and implements effective manufacturing processes with a focus on lean/CI transformation to achieve the production and quality goals of the plant

Develop improved manufacturing and testing processes that are necessary to achieve the performance and cost requirements of future aluminum applications

Works closely with quality, sales and productions department on quoting, sample runs, trials and special projects

Tracks and reports performance metrics. Uses data analysis to identify issues and prioritize areas in need of corrective action. Trains plant personnel in proper techniques for root cause analysis

Coordinates and guides problem solving teams, ensures corrective actions are implemented, monitors improvements. Support and maintain the established HYDRO Quality Management System.

Manages the ordering of extrusion dies and tooling. Maintains vendor relationships.

Identifies and provides resolution to any training, equipment, or material issues affecting productivity and quality.

Determines feasibility of projects by identifying and forecasting costs and requirements.

Seeks out, implements and shares best practices within and across departments and within the Hydro network to improve productivity and quality

Trains and develops skill level in supervisors, technicians and operators using proven tools such as standardized work.

Manages the die shop supervisor and CAD operator/draftsman. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees.

Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, 5+ years’ direct die shop and extrusion experience within an aluminum extrusion facility; previous supervisory experience preferred. Strong project management skills and exceptional customer focus.

Computer literate in MS Office applications.

Drafting skills with Auto Cad and/or Solid Works is a plus. Experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, and quality interpretation.

Strong communication skills. Must possess full communication capability in English.
