SUMMARY
Perform quality assurance functions necessary to provide key information for the development and integration of successful internal and external underwriting and operational strategies. Emphasis on quality assurance of straight through quotes (STQ) and straight through processing (STP), working with Underwriting, Sales, Premium Audit, Fraud and Agency Management. Guide management in establishment of program goals, objectives and business initiatives that will drive consistent and superior underwriting performance. Monitor, through various audit processes, to ensure achievement of goals and that issues are appropriately addressed. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Underwriting and Sales managers, corporate staff and other key managers to facilitate a consistent, quality product. Interact with all internal and external auditors, to include SOX compliance. Work under general management in a computer based environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Direct oversight of Underwriting Quality Assurance, as well as collaborative oversight of underwriting operations as related to goal achievement.
Manage the audit process to ensure compliance with underwriting best practices and regulatory requirements.???
Establish critical metrics and benchmarks for the underwriting organization and develop the necessary management information to consistently trend results.
Through guidelines, training and auditing, improve profitability and efficiency. Serve as a subject matter expert on the training and continuing education needs of the Underwriting organization. Provide educational outreach and training for Underwriting personnel
Demonstrate leadership, creating an environment that fosters teamwork and adherence to corporate mission and vision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Perform duties in an office environment consisting of computer equipment, phones, consistent temperature and background noise
Occasional fluctuations in pace and priority will occur.
The temperature is controlled by heating and air components and set to create a reasonable environment for all employees.
Travel required to perform Quality Assurance audits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Superior oral and written communication, listening, interpersonal, customer service and
telephone skills. Effective communication with co-workers, insureds and agents.
College degree in Business Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the Workers’ Compensation insurance field is required.
Superior technical audit experience, 5 years of which managing underwriting audit professionals. Demonstrated experience in establishing metrics and benchmarks for underwriting organizations including establishing an evaluation process.
Superior knowledge of Workers' Compensation laws and ability to interpret to statutes, regulations and company policies and practices, as well as related Underwriting and Sales procedures/protocols. Established, or have familiarity with, best practice and productivity guidelines in Workers’ Compensation.
Demonstrated experience in planning and controlling projects, budgets, and staff. Proven ability to lead and deliver initiatives and projects successfully.
PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED
CPCU certification, working knowledge of automated underwriting systems.
Working knowledge of an imaged underwriting environment.
