Exciting opportunity to join a new biosensor division in a startup company located in Milpitas, CA (South Bay Area). We integrate cutting edge technologies in electronics and biotechnology to develop revolutionary platforms for molecular diagnostics. The proprietary platform when developed will offer extreme sensitivity to detect multiple nucleic acids and proteins simultaneously with simple instrumentation.

General Summary

This position will be responsible for developing extremely sensitive biochip assays by applying innovative surface chemistry to enhance target capture and minimize background noise. It requires achieving goals efficiently in terms of time and resources. The position reports to Senior Director of Biosensor Development.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Innovate, plan and lead research and development activities to develop molecular assays on biochip of high sensitivity.

Supervise 1 to 2 scientists in a highly hands-on manner and is ultimately expected to build and lead a team of expert scientists.

Collaborate with a group of diverse experts to integrate and build the biochip platform with the goal of developing FDA approved products.

Communicate proposals, plans and progress for the projects through written or oral presentations internally and externally.


Job Specification and Requirements*

Extensive and in depth expertise in surface modification, nucleic acid chemistry and protein chemistry.

Excellent communication and analytical skills.

Highly skilled in all aspects of developing sensitive assays including sample preparation, probe design, hybridization and protein modification and characterization.

Interest and ability to thrive in highly energetic start up environment.

Leadership, fairness and high work ethics critical for team building.

Good record keeping and communications skills.

PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology with 10+ years of work experience.


Work Schedule, Conditions and Physical Requirements ***

This is a ""Day"" shift position, Monday through Friday. Regular work schedule may periodically be adjusted to meet company needs.
