Job Description | External Description: PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical assignments related to design specification, procurement and installation of equipment, materials and system associate with gas pipeline and gas storage projects. Primarily responsible for managing and supervising well drilling, completion and maintenance operations.
Assists in the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, standards, studies, cost estimates and the development of sound technical recommendations, in support of projects and tasks managed by others within project management, development and other departments.
Applies technical expertise to solve technical problems identified by project management or other team members. Coordinates with outside contractors in the preparation of technical drawings, designs, and specifications, including development of work scope and schedule.
Coordinates input from, and participation with, various departments within the company as needed to meet project objectives. Interfaces with state oil and gas regulators in support of project and on-going operational work efforts.
Provides technical expertise to one or multiple project teams for the evaluation of, and resolution to, engineering problems and designs involving various engineering disciplines. May include the assessment of alternative methods, assessment of outside support requirements, and review of company, industry or regulatory codes and standards. Supports field operations groups in troubleshooting well issues.
Gathers data, performs calculations and prepares designs to develop technically sound findings, conclusions and recommendations. Supports reservoir engineering studies. Manages the solution mining process for cavern development including cavern modeling. Trends SWD and fresh water well performance. Follows up on implementation of recommendations and/or acceptance of conclusions to assess accuracy and completeness.
Familiarizes and utilizes departmental project control systems for storing and retrieval of project documents. Follows company standards, specifications and procedures governing selection, design, application and operation of equipment and systems. Follows departmental procedures for scheduling and timely submission of status reports as requested.
External Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline. Professional engineer’s registration is preferred. Requires a minimum of 3 years of energy industry related experience. Background in energy infrastructure project design and construction is preferred. Experience with salt drilling, SWD wells and fresh water supply wells strongly preferred.
Must demonstrate a good working knowledge of industry practices and standards as well as have familiarity with major sub-suppliers.
Familiar with project engineering tools and processes, including an understanding of design specifications, design review strategies and technical problem solving and cost estimating.
Excellent oral and written communication is required, including the ability to build consensus with an aptitude for resolving technical issues and conflicts.
Typically requires approximately 20 to 30% travel over an extended period of time.
