Job Description
Abide Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to contribute to the identification and development of novel small-molecule drugs targeting the serine hydrolase enzyme family. Abide’s mission is to develop innovative medicines that target serine hydrolases, one of the largest enzyme classes in nature with validated, but mostly untapped therapeutic potential. Abide is a privately held biotechnology company that was founded by scientific research from Professor Ben Cravatt’s laboratories at The Scripps Research Institute.

The position requires an experienced and flexible biologist who can conduct bench-level experiments and lead drug discovery research at the phases of target identification and validation, and in vitro and in vivo assay development for the identification and characterization of small molecule hits and the optimization and progression of lead molecules. Since inflammatory and immune disorders are the primary therapeutic areas of focus, the position requires a comprehensive understanding of immunology. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with our biologists and medicinal chemists to discover new therapeutic targets and drug candidates. Job responsibilities include the identification and validation of novel targets and optimization of new drug candidates and biomarkers suitable for clinical evaluation across a variety of areas of immune dysfunction. The candidate would lead in vitro and in vivo assay development including the development, validation and application of relevant in vitro and in vivo disease models for drug candidate profiling. Additional responsibilities include identifying, sponsoring and maintaining external research collaboration and contracts with academic groups and CROs. Candidate must have the ability to analyze and interpret data and have the ability to integrate datasets and results from other experimental approaches and disciplines.
Requirements
Experience and education requirements:
• Ph.D. degree or equivalent years of experience
• Post-doctoral research experience
• Strong knowledge of in vitro and in vivo immunological models to support target identification and drug discovery
• 5 – 7 years of industrial experience
• Strong record of scientific achievement
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
