Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is primarily responsible for achieving revenue and profit growth objectives for Umicore’s thin film coating materials business within the optics and semiconductor industries. This person will manage prospective and existing customer accounts in the eastern half of the United States, articulating Umicore’s value proposition and providing sales and technical support. This person will work in accordance with company policies and conduct themselves in an ethical manner.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
?Responsible for achieving sales objectives in assigned territory
?Identify and close on new business opportunities
?Provide a high level of service and support to ensure customer satisfaction by providing quotations, proposals and technical information
?Understand customer needs, deduce solutions and present them persuasively in an effort to develop long-term and trusting relationships with customers
?Formulate and recommend sales strategies for achieving short and long-term business acquisition
?Report regularly on customer visits, sales funnel, financial performance, competitive environment and industry trends
?Work closely with cross functional team to address technical inquiries and customer issues
?Provide regular and accurate sales forecasts
?Negotiate pricing, credit/payment terms, consignment, NDAs, JDAs, etc.
?Continue to develop professionally by remaining current on new technologies, industry development and product pipeline
?Attend trade shows, industry conferences and technical seminars to promote the company and its products
?Travel up to 50% in assigned territory to meet with customers and prospects as required (both domestically and internationally)

Job Requirements

Competence
?Desire to work in a challenging, technically-oriented sales position
?Business and financial acumen, and strong strategic vision and planning capabilities
?Demonstrate self motivation, organizational skills, initiative, leadership and results orientation
?Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
?Familiarity with SAP R/3 and/or B1 a plus
?Ideal candidate will work from Providence, RI, sales office or out of home office (MA, NH, FL, NC may be considered)

Education and Experience
?Bachelors degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, or relevant technical discipline
?+5 years of proven sales success of technical products
?Knowledge in thin film and vacuum coating technology in the optics and microelectronics is highly desirable
