Job Purpose:

The Electrical Controls Engineer will perform various types of electro/mechanical work such as: operating, maintaining, and trouble-shooting manufacturing, and other production related equipment. Candidate must be able to troubleshoot, edit, and program PLC machines specifically Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 software, Rockwell ControlLogix PLC and PanelView operator interfaces. Candidate must have experience with high-volume distribution material, automated equipment, as well as having the ability to upload/download programs into/out of PLC language. This Electrical Controls Engineer will ensure that all plant electrical, instrumentation, computer, and communication equipment operate properly and reliably. The Controls Engineer will also provide technical support and train the plant’s maintenance employees.


Responsibilities:
Key Job Functions:
1.Will actively develop, implement, and participate in all safety programs, rules, and procedures. Will maintain proactive working habits with all plant personnel to continuously improve overall safety.
2.Develop and Modify PLC and HMI programs to support operational changes and improvement.
3.Will seamlessly incorporate new equipment and/or processes into the existing process network when necessary.
4.Perform electrical, mechanical or communications/networking troubleshooting to determine problems and resolution.
5.Will administer electrical, controls, computer systems and other assigned projects from conception to timely, cost contained completion. Will ensure that projects are adequately documented and that good engineering practices are utilized including maintain records of all program changes, assembly drawings and process changes.
6.Manage electronic format data, process parameters, hardware and systems such as RSLogix 5000 Software, Rockwell ControlLogix PLC and PanelView operator interfaces, maintain AB Powerflex Drives, Panelviews, Servos and Encoders including that all HMI and PLC programs are kept current and backed up on a regular basis.
7.Performs setup, calibrations, and preventative maintenance on production equipment.
8.Support installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are functioning according to specifications.
9.Proactively report on project progress against schedule.
10.Mentor and train maintenance personnel on PLC’s and controls.
11.Assist in the development and execution of training plans in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
12.Other duties as assigned/needed.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Competencies

Required:
•Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering preferred with a minimum of 4 years’ experience of programming control systems, electrical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance in a high-speed, high volume, lean automation environment.
•Proficient with all programming and troubleshooting aspects of Allen-Bradley RXLogix 5000, Rockwell ControlLogix PLC and PanelView operator interfaces, AB Powerflex Drives, Panelviews, and motion control.
•Ability to read, program and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic or other PLC based machine codes to resolve complex problems and/or optimize machine performance.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to plan and conduct meetings, and training sessions.
• Strong ability to analyze and interpret data and demonstrate excellent problem solving skills.
•Ability to train other technicians and/or customer personnel in the correct operation and maintenance and troubleshooting of the plant’s equipment
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices in the proper manner.
•Works productively with others in a team environment.
•Solid understanding in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
•Demonstrated ability to maintain a discipline structured work environment.
•Works with integrity and respect displaying a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
•Physically able to work long shifts if required and stand for long periods of time
•Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
