Performs tasks under the direction of Director of Engineering. Develops product designs, prototypes, tooling and product testing. Works closely with engineering, marketing and operations to bring product from concept to market.Directs and/or performs product and component testing, analysis and maintains development history records.Is key functional member of product Core Team, leads design review meetings, develops product development plans and budgets, writes product specifications. Evaluates product designs and implements product performance improvements.
Responsibilities:
Performs product development on new and existing Φssur products.
Develops product development timeline schedule and budget.
Is responsible for day to day adherence to product development schedule and budget.
Develops all technical specifications for products, materials, testing, and assembly of Φssur products
Originates and applies new/unique engineering methods and procedures.
Makes major changes to existing product designs as required to maintain quality, reliability and function.
Coordinates major design aspects of projects to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
Participates in solution of problems relating to manufacturing and cost reductions.
Provides work direction, guidance and evaluation of subordinate personnel.
Stays abreast of advancements in materials and manufacturing technology and recommends appropriate use.
Prepares and participates in budget preparation, cost justifications and may authorize project spending.
Supplies technical advice and counsel to other departments and customers.
Prepares management reports, participate in strategy planning and communicates department objective and status.
Evaluates and reports on product reliability, including failure analysis and testing.
Performs the necessary design implementation tasks to support product development.
Responsible for entire package of product technical documentation.
Assist customer service in inquiries regarding product performance and technical questions.
Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar, with 6 or more years engineering experience.
Experience in product development principals and product specification development and verification.
Experience in PCB, Software design and development, Software testing and
protocol, Medical Device Software and hardware
Experience in electronic enclosure design utilizing injection molded plastic, sheet metal, machining and casting.
Experience in EMI shielding design.
Experience in thermal, shock and vibration analysis and test.
Understanding of computer hardware, Windows 95 base software and spreadsheets to include Microsoft Project and Excel.
Must be able to create and interpret drawings, blueprints and understand complex technical concepts, i.e. design criteria, math and mechanical concepts.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by prior work experience and job interview.
Demonstrated ingenuity and creativity in solving technical problems.
Mature judgment and effective interpersonal communicator as demonstrated by employment interview and effectiveness in prior position(s).
Good organization and planning skills as demonstrated by effectiveness in prior position(s).
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive knowledge of Φssur products will be obtained by spending time in the Production, Injection Molding, Marketing and Customer Service areas as well as independently reviewing all promotional materials. Will also gain knowledge of competitors products through independent research.
ISO 10328 Testing Standards training will be provided within the first 90 days of employment.
Applicable procedures and work instructions for all other duties will be provided.
Will receive additional safety training as appropriate.
Training on composite materials; knowledge to be gained by spending time in the production and R&D areas. |
