Are you our next Engineer I?
We are currently seeking an Engineer I for our Carlsbad, NM location. The Engineer I assists in the Mine Engineering Department in making recommendations and decisions regarding planning, evaluation, project development, and cost reduction by utilizing information obtained by the collection of analytical data.

What will you do?

Assist Mine Engineering Department in sampling, surveying, data collection, preparation of maps and reports, and calculation of ore reserves as directed. Equipment design, selection and small project management.

Participates in short-range and long-range planning and prepares capital plan recommendations as directed.

Decision making involving details of planning and recommendations to the Mine Engineering Superintendent regarding mining systems and processes.

Prepare quarterly and annual mine ventilation reports recommending improvements and modifications of the ventilation system.

Ensure regulatory, corporate and site safety and environmental standards are being followed by conducting safety audits, risk assessments and housekeeping tours. Ensure all projects are evaluated to ensure that any hazards to workers, the public, the environment or the integrity of the physical plant, will be minimized through project design parameters. Challenges unsafe and/or environmentally harmful practices and seeks to create a safe work atmosphere and aid environmental awareness, protection and restoration.
Demonstrates adherence to EHS policies and procedures.

Be vigilant of issues and conditions that can affect their fellow workers.

Report any issues that can impact the environment or the safety of the employees.

Position Requirements

What do you need for this role?

Bachelor’s Degree required, major in Mineral Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Underground mining experience preferred.

Computer literate with proficiencies including AutoCAD, Excel and prefer Access and SQL.

Demonstrated communication, computer and organizational skills and abilities to coordinate investigations or experiments with the Mine Engineering Superintendent and General Mine Foremen.

Must have knowledge of equipment, suppliers, and technical aspects of equipment.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
