Job Description
In 1992, Eli Lilly and Company established the Delivery Device business for the purpose of creating, developing, launching and continuously improving proprietary delivery device systems. This business is unique to the broader Lilly Research Labs organization due to its focus on patient centered delivery system solutions, its innovative approach to delivery platforms utilizing both internal and external technologies, and its level of integration with the commercial groups and Business Units. The organization leverages many alliances in design and manufacturing to rapidly convert proprietary product concepts into products that meet the users’ needs and intended uses. Responsibilities

We are seeking highly motivated technical design professionals with a start-up mentality to join our new Drug Delivery and Device Innovation Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to explore, develop and prototype new and emerging technologies. This new center is a multidisciplinary studio helping realize the future. We seek to explore and apply new technical solutions across delivery systems, with focus in the following areas:
•Drug container design with consideration of materials, coatings and unique packaging concepts
•Injection/infusion fluidic control systems
•Mechanical and electromechanical systems
•Electronic communication and firmware
•Software and connected delivery solutions

The ideal individual will be at the forefront of their respective field, and be able to take initiative and work independently. As important, they will be an effective collaborator with many different constituents:•Local team members Injection/infusion fluidic control systems

•Partner consultants, including world class design firms

Position Responsibilities:
•Evaluate, develop and design software interfaces for drug delivery systems.
•Understand, inform and support the delivery and device platform strategy; how the strategy is informed by internal (molecule/ pipeline needs), external needs (patient, market and technology trends) and how it ultimately drives improved patient outcomes.
•Identify and monitor disruptive delivery and device technologies as well as trends in patient centered disease management (i.e. diabetes connected product systems and patient support systems)
•Work with external partners to design and prototype early concepts to support the delivery strategy.
•Connect with the broader Lilly organization including Delivery and Device R&D, Manufacturing, Medical, Marketing, Formulation and Discovery to inform areas of development.
•Understand IP, freedom to operate and competitive landscape in targeted areas of research.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications
•BS Science or Engineering
•5+ years in software life cycle management, version control, continuous integration, and automated testing.
•5+ years in software development with 3+ years designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining mobile or web based applications.
•Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences
•Experience with firmware development, system controls, and/or handheld device application development.
•Ability to serve as subject matter expert on application software development, including defining and maintaining appropriate software architecture.
•Experience with software requirements and solution development process that ensures those are addressed.
•Previous medical device software or drug delivery device drug delivery systems development experience.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively in an interdisciplinary environment.
•Ability to identify problems and drive issue resolution/improvements.
•Demonstrated analytical skills including statistics, DOE, experimental design or Six Sigma.
•Effective technical writing skills as well as good verbal communication / presentation skills.
•Experience with appropriate regulations (CRF 820.30, ISO13485, ISO 14971, etc).
